puppy care, house training and seperation anxiety with barking?

Help!! I just got Daisy, an 8 month old puppy. She is a beagle mix, and is not house trained. I have never had any dogs before, so have no clue how to go about house training. I am in an apartment and can not leave her outside. Wouldn’t even if I could.

The second problem I have is she is going through seperation anxiety. I pay as much attention to her as I can, and she is doing very well at most training. She has been with me less than a week and I taught her to sit and step into her harness as well. Anytime I leave the apartment, even just to check the mail, or grab a soda, she starts barking. LOUDLY. My neighbors are complaining. They are not pet people. How can I get this behaviour to stop?? She is not alone in the apartment. I have 3 cats that are adjusting to her, though they hide, and 5 fish tanks for her to look at. I know she is getting plenty of exercise, as I walk her 5 times a day and once at night, plus playing with her when I am home. I will be working soon. Ideas???

Start Crate Training – Get a blanket that has your scent – record your voice and make sure she has plenty of toys

    Good luck

I would phase her out of the anxiety. Also, I know you can get anxiety meds for dogs at Petland, Petco, etc. But, I would be very careful and ask a vet before you use this.

One of my friends dropped her dog off at her relatives (that didn’t have neighbors close by) during the day until it was used to being alone.
