R5 is much less draining on the batts
@hugo2x
Ah i see, i’m with you now. I heard the newer P7s (200 lumens rather than older 170 lumens) aren’t that efficient on power consumption, so is still worth buying the older versions as a drop of 30 lumens isnt that much, but is a lot kinder to the batteries. What’s your take on the R5′s power consumtopn compared to the P7?
@gamesandshite The P7 is definetly brighter, but the single core R5 isn’t much far behind and for such a small package
Were you trying to say that the R5 was better than the P7 or can ‘compete’ with the P7? The p7 looked better than the R5 in your vid.
yeah the p7 is still producing about 200 more lumens out the front than the r5.
It’s free, just like Deal Extreme
how much the shipping cost?
Kaidomain has them, they ship world wide.
there is an XP-G R2 on DEAL EXTREME now.
any other shops that ships to ISRAEL?
the P7 looks brighter to me on this vid lol ? ant one else notice that ?
you can get all the stuff on Kaidomain, its a lot like Dealextreme but they have much faster shipping.
where did you pick that R5 up at?
What driver are you using?
i thing no
currently there is no news about cree updating there XRE line. so far R2 is still the best thrower you can get
noooo my hopes are ruined… but thanks for the heads up
Do you know of any new LEDs other than the xre r2 that will provide better throw in the DBS?
XPG LEDS have a much wider beam angle than XRE LEDs. the xpg R5 will put out a significantly brighter output than a a xre R2, but it will sacrifice throw. if you put a XPG in a XRE reflector you would likely see a donut hole in the hotspot.
Hey, do you know if the R5s will fit the dereelights?? I have a DBS and was wondering if the R5s have a higher surface brightness then the R2s for better throw??
now thats what talking 2500 lumen led nice. i can focus my mag so theres hardly any artifacs in the beam its like a giant flood light i bought a special reflector from the sandwich shop on cpf and it worked great also put a glass lens on it.
I haven’t heard of any new XRE bins comming out to replace the Q5 and R2 optical configuration.
And the SST-50 and SST-90 is the *new P7* so to speak. big advantage is no donut hole in beam pattern, and the SST-90 can do 2500Lm with aggressive heat sinking
sounds good to me i have a bunch of lights with the q5 and one modded 3 dcell mag with the p7 so i think i might wait to how long do you think it will take 6 months?
Quark is starting to put these bins in there production line. I’m gonna hold out on new production lights till I see some S2′s
yea those are nice wish the would have put the r5 in there new upgraded models like the pd30 and maybe ta21 and tk11
I’m using a 14500 in a Ultrafire Nitecore Infinity clone. the driver is supposed to push 1A, but I think its driving it around 1.2-1.4Amps.
Suckers bright, I wish I could get one in XRE for some throw.
I’m trying to figure out which host you used for your XP-G R5. Is that a 18650 tube or a 2X CR123? What drive current, 1000mAh, driver? Either way, Nice Work!!
I can’t wait for the S2 bins!!
