My red finned rainbow shark has been getting aggressive lately, how can I stop this?

He’s chasing around the smaller fish. I have 3 zebra danios that used to zip around the tank, and now they just hide all the time. I have a ton of rock work and plants, so there is plenty of room for hiding spaces. Its a 55 gallon community tank. I don’t know if i should remove him? I have a 30 gallon african cichlid tank, but i don’t know if he’ll survive in there. Please help. All nitrate and ph levels are fine. I do 15-25% water changes weekly, so I know its not the water quality.

Also in the tank: 5 tiger barbs, 3 albino tiger barbs, 2 gold barbs, 1 african frog, 1 paradise gourami, 2 spotted mollies, 2 sunfire platys, 1 lyretail molly, and 1 pleco

55 gallon is too small and like there own space.

You can’t stop it. It’s a relatively aggressive fish. It’s just what it does.

They reach about 6″, so a 55 gallon is plenty of room for them.

This is a neat trick I learned. Take him out of the tank. (Just in a bucket with some tank water) for a few minutes. While he is in there, move all the decorations and plants and such around. Place him back in. He will have to find new unoccupied territory. Whenever he starts being aggressive, just do this.

separate the zebra danios from the sharks and you’ll be fine.
