My Guppy Is Pregnant, HELP PLEASE?

I have one female guppy and one male guppy. My female is pregnant. I got them about 3 weeks ago. I started to notice that she was fat when I first got her so I think she got pregnant in the tank from the fish store.
She’s really fat so I put her in another tank alone. A couple of days ago I put some water in the tank that she is in now and today I put some water from my big fish tank into her fish tank. I put her in today, but I don’t know when she’s going to give birth. Close to her butt, there is a small black spot. Can you please help me.

I need help with..
-When she’s going to give birth
- What to feed the babies
- If I should keep the mom in the little tank for now
- How do I know if she is giving birth
- What if she gives birth when i’m asleep

Thats about it.

Thanks

    WOW! This is Awesome!

She could give birth anytime now!

You can feed the baby’s crushed flakes because that’s probably what you have at the moment.

Keep the mom in the tank until she has birth then put her back in the other tank.

You will see live fish coming out of her ansd swimming around if you look carefully.

Put some Moss for the fish to hide from the mother then when you see that she has given birth take her out of the tank.

PS: She could have more a couple days after she gives birth.

    Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Well first off NEVER put male and female guppies in the same tank because they will breed!
About a day or two before she is going to give birth, she will not eat. After she gives birth, she will be very hungry. If possible, separate her after she gives birth from her fry because she will eat them. You should also wait two days after she gives birth before you put her back in the original tank because she will be harassed by other male guppies.

    Its easier than you think.

When my guppy gave birth, she gave birth to live fish. The just kinda swam there. We put a little grass thing in there (you can buy at the fish store) and curshed the flakes tiny and let them be. They dont need much else.

Its should be soon. Maybe a week or two?

    1. You can never predict exactly when she is going to give birth, but since she is very fat and has a gravid spot (the small black spot) she is close. The period of pregnancy for a guppy lasts about 28 days, and since you got her 3 weeks ago, she’ll it’ll probably happen sometime in the next 7 days, if she was pregnant at the store then maybe sooner.
    2. Guppy babies are usually fed baby brine shrimp, the #1 food that people give them. Read this page for more info http://guppyplace.tripod.com/Fry.html
    3. You may be able to keep her in the tank for a bit longer, maybe a few days. When it looks like the one in this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFkBjD2Le3k you should probably take it out.
    4. Usually, before giving birth they refuse to eat and, you will see little tiny fish popping out of her belly every once and a while. I also heard that in some cases, you can see the babies eyes through the mother’s skin.
    5. If she gives birth when your asleep, then too bad. There’s nothing you can do about it. If she is in the small tank then the babies should be fine, and if shes in the big one, then you should attempt to rescue all the babies you can find before they get eaten by the bigger fish.

I recommend buying the baby guppy food before the mom gives birth, because they are very hungry and should be fed about 4-6 times a day.
