My fish has been twitching and staying at either the bottom or top of the tank?
He rarely swims around anymore, and sometimes it seems like his head is weighing him down, and his tail is floating up. When he does swim he is skittish and twitching. He was near a window so may have been getting some direct sunlight, I just moved him so there is no chance of any light. I was feeding him flaked food, and now I soak it before he eats it. I just changed the water in his bowl, and added the stuff to make it safe. What is wrong with him? Is there anything else I should be doing? I found him, but I assume he is a goldfish, although he is silver colored.
He always had the stuff to make the water safe in his water, just wanted to make that clear.
Also, it really just seems like he has sunk to the bottom of the tank and just sits there. He used to be really active when I first got him, and now is so sluggish.
She has been like this for 3 days, and hasn’t died, are you sure she’s near death?
i mean he…i dont know why i just changed his gender lol

Typically when their heads appear heavier than the rest of their body, they are close to death.
This is the case for the guppies I raise; however, it could be different for goldfish.
your fish has iculocolisis .
this means that it is certain to die .
sorry .
RIP FISHY ):
yeah my beta fish did tht just randomly it smashed himslef into the side of the tank then started twitching then next day dead.
My fish was like that too…………but it didn’t died, check if water is too hot or too cold.
Hi Maureen-your problem is almost certainly caused by one thing-a bowl. This is a death sentence because not only does it provide no visual or mental stimulation it has no filter so will quickly fill with the fishe’s waste & suffocate her. There is no way you will be able to maintain any kind of good water quality in a bowl-even if you were to change the water each day you will subjecting your fish to extreme stress which is almost as lethal as toxic water.
To have any chance of saving her you need to immediately get her a 10 gallon tank with a fitted lid & a filter rated for 20 gallons.
The first link below tells you why bowls are bad news & the second one all about good Goldfish care. You have your work cut out because Goldfish are not the easiest or cheapest fish to keep but see how you go, feel free to email me about any of this.
