i personally don’t own one, but i lived with someone who did. they had a heating rock that had a cave inside in the tank for her, and a apprpx 4 inch by 4 inch heating lamp atop the cage. her leopard gecko seemed very happy and healthy and was about 10 years in age.

Make sure the substrate is gecko safe, because you don’t want it to get impacted. It doesn’t really matter all that much which size heater you get as long as you get one. You could really just get the smallest size there is and the lizard would be happy with it. And DO NOT get a heat rock, if you lizard decides to bask on it, it could get badly burned.

for 50-60 gall would be perfect, this one goes UNDER the entire tank.
thats a good home for the gecko i bet he loves it :)

yeah i agree with the “all i can do. . .” person… make sure your substrate is reptile safe.. ALOT of repto sand still causes impaction, i use a special carpet for my geckos found at pets mart.. and for the heating pad, i wouldnt get something that covers the whole bottom of the tank, your geckos will switch sides depending on if they feel too hot or too cold… get a heating pad big enough to cover atleast half maybe a bit less of your tank, and yeah, putting the pad under the glass is fine

Get the 55 gallon under tank heater or one that cover 1/3 of the bottom of the tank. You want one side of the tank to be warmer then the other. Yes, there is a piece of paper that your peal off and stick the pad to the bottom of the tank. Keep an eye on the gecko and remove the sand if you think it might have an impaction. All sands cause impaction not just calcium, reptile, or vitamin sands. Leopard geckos don’t live on sand anyways. They live on hard packed rocks and dirt.

On the package it states the recommended size of tank the heating pad is for. I went ahead and looked up the sizes for you, and you probably going to want to get a Zoo Med 50 to 60 Gallon Heat Pad.
