just bought a bala shark?!?

i bought two bala sharks yesterday, as wel as many other fish, and okay this is the story. so we filled the tank full of water and the 2 bala sharks were in the bag still floating in the water, you know, like how you’re suppossed to so they get used to the temperature, and so they’re both tyring to swwim to the bottom, they’re super energetic, then like 5 moinutes later one is just floating still watching the other one still trying to swim out of the bag. about another 5 minutes later i look back at the tank and it’s upside down! it’s still breathing and so i just let them both out of the bag. one swims around and the other is still upside down i guess preparing to die! we put fish food in too, but to no help. we flush it down the toilet. okay so we come back and the other fish swims into the deorative shark’s mouth that we have in the tank, and stays there. i’m up for another 3 hours, maybe longer, and it still hasn’t come out. i go to sleep, wake up after like 10 hours and it’s still in the pastic shark’s mouth! i even tried gently poking it’s tail (the only visible part) gently, and it dosen’t move.

what is going on?
what should i do?
okay guys, got some, well not really alert or breaking neews. we brobed the plastic shark, we tried turning it over, yeah. the bala shark is dead. that is so stupid. we bought the sharks from walmart i might add, but what kind of fish just dies like that?!

we put in in the tank, and they just go and die.

why?!

sounds like you filled the tank with cold water. you should fill the tank then wait three days before adding fish if your using tap water.

Sorry. Neither one made the transition. How large is your tank? Although these fish are carried by a lot of stores, few warn people: at full size, they grow larger than 12 inches long! And they grow FAST!

It may be trying to hide from the light… turn off a light and see what happens…

    this should help…

You can not expect a fish to act the way it did at the store after only a day in your tank.

THEY NEED TO ADJUST!!!! It can tank days or weeks for a fish to fully adjust to a new tank. LEAVE HIM ALONE. Check your water see if you have any ammonia or nitrites that could stress them out even more. You must have shocked them. The PH could be different.

Check your water make sure it is all good. And just wait. fish need time to adjust.

PS you know these fish are schooling fish that grow to be a foot long. I hope you have a big tank. AND since they are schooling fish and you now only have one. That one the is left is going to hide out because a schooling fish with out a school is a scared stressed fish.

did you put warm or cold water? did you put in some declorinator? did you wait for three days? did you cycle your tank? is your tank smaller than 38 or 55 gallon? I heard bala sharks need to be in groups minimum of 5 did you test your water and make sure you have no amonia and good bacteria? what fish got stuck in the sharks mouth? he is probobly dead also bala sharks grow huge and fast better watch out

You did not cycle your aquarium, and odds are you did not research balas before you purchased them.

Bala sharks are extremely sensitive. They should be added to an established aquarium. Not only do you have to adjust a fish to the temperature of the tank, but also the pH. You should have opened the bag, rolled down the edges, and introduced some tank water into the bag.

Bala sharks are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least six. They grow about a foot long (males are larger) and they require 100 gallons minimum.
