is the Aqueon Mini Bow Desktop Aquarium 2.5 gallons a nice living space for my betta?

although everybody says that my betta needs at least five gallons my parents wont let me have a five gallon tank because it wouldn’t be able to stand on any of the furniture in my room. i cant find a tank that’s 3-4 gallons.

heres the website for the tank i would like

As long as you get a heater and make sure the filter doesn’t disturb the betta, yes, this is fine. While I personally would keep my bettas in 5 gallons or larger, I consider a 2.5 minimal but still fine. Just don’t go any smaller than that, not even by half a gallon. By the way, I couldn’t talk my sister into a 5-10 gallon, but after being annoying for quite some time I convinced her to let me move her betta to a heated 2.5 gal. While I’d still like to give him more room, he is very alert and active and it’s clear he isn’t suffering.

    Hello Ryan this is fine.

If only one betta fish is going to be living there, a 2.5 gallon aquarium is perfect. I had a similar model aquarium for my betta.

    Have fun :)

A 5G tank is not all that heavy- I have 4 5G shrimp tanks scattered around my house. Pretty much any flat surface can hold a 5G tank. I even have one in a windowsill. (Lots of plants, no algae.)

I know this won’t get me “best answer” but I’d like you to check this out-

If 2.5 really is all you can get, then definately get it- it’s a huge improvement.
Just see if you can get something a tad bigger though.

    YUp..alll good advise..

My best tip is to use sand not gravel. Just soak sand for days in a bucket before putting in tank to water log it.

Sand is air tight meaning no food or gunk that makes a tank dirty can get in it. which means no vacuuming with reduces the work, all you do now is water changes.

trust me its well worth it. Plus it comes in nice colours…I like black and is makes fish colors pop.

Plus bettas like it hot, set tank to 79-80 degrees.

    good luck

Yep yep yep! I thought I told you it would be perfect! I don’t think you need a big 5 gallon. I think your Betta will be very happy with this tank! And you should take what your parents are giving you! Work hard. Show them you love your fish. And then maybe they will get you a bigger one! :)
