    It really depends what the styrofoam is being used for, but generally it would be better not to use it. Styrofoam can be dangerous to fish, if, and when they nibble the heck out of it, which thet will. If it is for decorations, I would use ceramics. If you have baby fish and want to separate them, I would go to the pet store and ask if they have any separating nets for fish. If you have another problem that I can help with, just comment on my post and I will check back in.

    I don’t know that it will harm the fish, but it won’t stay under the gravel. Styrofoam and similar foam materials are extremely buoyant, and will struggle mightily to float to the top of the water.

    That stuff is unsinkable. It’s very buoyant. You would have to put bricks on top if to hold it down. I’m not sure the chemicals used to make are safe for fish.

    What do you want to use it for?
