Is it safe to put plastic toys in fish tanks for decoration?

I was thinking about putting a LEGO castle in my aquarium. Would this be safe for the fish?

Yeah, I think so.Just clean it really good and it should be fine,
I can’t say for certain it would be toxic, but as a rule, plastic does not go in aquariums. Toxins in the plastic can leach out into the water and poison the fish.
It should be.
Just make sure you wash it real good & then get all the soap off before you put it in there.
why even risk it?
umm,,, zoe,, what do you think fish tank deco is made of???
yes, legos will be fine, but i’d suggest getting brand new legos. don’t use used ones, the’ve got nasty germs on them….. and and don’t use any pieces small enough for your fish to move themselves, or get in their mouths… also, use like duplo blocks, (that have rounded edges) so that they don’t scratch themselves with them. keep in mind tho, that legos might float since they’re empty, you’d need to build your castle underwater…. lol
Most the time, they’ll tell you to put all new aquarium deco in an empty and running fish tank for a month before you put it in with your fish… it acclimates the deco to the water, and the chemicals you use in your tank.
I just recently used a brand new coke glass, ya kno, the greeen ones, and filled it up with brown glass beads, then arranged it so it looked like a glass of coke had dumped over… it looks soooo cute!! just make sure that if it feels sharp at all to you, it will cut your fish (or hurt them somehow….)
good luck!!!
maybe,
Don’t put plastic in the tank the toxins in it can kill them but if you do decide to put in plastic place in a tub with boiling water with a lid on firmly this should sterilise them I don’t know if it will be safe but it will be better than just placing them in the tank
