Um…. I used to own a fighting fish. But I only put some blue rock in. I think the bamboo is fine. IS it real?!?!
How big is the bowl? What kind of fish are in there? I dont think its a good idea. Do u have a light on the bowl?
the bamboo is fine — just know that its not great for the bamboo and it will eventually die.
how often you change the water depends on the size of the bowl and the number of fish. if you have a 2 1/2 gallon bowl he is fine for a couple of days with one goldfish.
Hi, No idea about how the bamboo might affect the water but I would suggest there is not much room for it in the bowl as you already have more than one fish. The attached link has a section dealing with keeping bowls clean. You say you’re not spending money on a tank yet you also say you don’t want to hurt your fishes so you might consider a bowl to a fish is like prison cell with no toilet facilities. A tank may cost a little more to begin with but in terms of maintenance you will have your work cut out maintaining a healthy fish bowl compared to a filtered tank.
First off bamboo is a non-aquatic plant so it will not live long completely submerged underwater. If you got a long enough piece of bamboo so that way only about 1-3 inches of it is submerged underwater then yes it should be fine. You will have to change the bowls water about 2-3 times a week depending on size. This will be good because the bamboo should have its water changed once a week. On this website they posted you could feed the plant fertilizer, if you are going to do this do not do it with the fish. Also they talk about how you could use sand or a soil mixture, but if you have averagely fine substrate then that will work too. What usually will not work is those big rocks/marbles sometimes put in bowls. Remember if you get this plant then you have to have some room in your goldfish bowl.
