You need the filter on 24/7 for flow and oxygen for the fish. Without the filter, most fishes die under an hour.
No leave it running all the time. Otherwise the nasties will have too much of a chance to grow and take over the tank.
NOOOOOOOO !!!!
No. A filter is there to take in waste all the time. Fish don’t just poop in the daylight, after all! =) The heater stays on all night too, just make sure the water level is high enough for both these items that they can work properly. With a filter a too-low water level can burn up the pump. With a heater you have to make sure it is in water all the time or it will burst (i.e. crack, break open) and fry your fish. Good luck with your fish!!
You should leave the filter on at all times except when cleaning….and you should keep clean it often.
No do not turn it off keep it running day and night
You never want to turn the filter off unless you are cleaning the tank. Some filter have a speed control that you can turn to the slower speed when feeding your fish.
i have two tanks hooked up to the same filter…it is always on.
No I leave all my filters on all night. It filters waste and helps put oxygen in the tank.
No
And some time you don’t need a filter at all if you have a balenced tank…

Absolutely not!!! Apart from filtering out the stuff you see, the filter is typically one of the main homes of the good bacteria that filters out the even worse stuff you don’t see – ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. You definietly don’t want that building up overnight!
Leave it run all the time
