  1. Divelucaya says:

    15 Gallons

  2. qalfazarath says:

    18 inches X12 inches X 17 inches = 3672 cubic inches

    1 gallon = 231 cubic inches

    3672/231 = 15.89 gallons

  3. yetif15 says:

    use a 1 gallon mik jug to fill it. Then you know to the level that you fill it. You could also use a Cole bottle if you wanted liters.

  4. Hondu says:

    If those are inside dimensions: 18 x 12 x 17 equals 3,672 cubic inches. There are 1728 cubic inches in a cubic foot so divide 3672 by 1728. Your tank is 2.125 cubic feet in volumn.
    There are 7.48 US gallons in a cubic foot, thus 2.125 x 7.48 = 15.895 gallons.

  5. ali n says:

    **1 inch ≡ 0.0254 metre
    so your tank volume is 0.4572 x 0.294 x 0.4318 = 0.058 m^3
    **1 m^3 = 1000 litre so
    0.058 m^3 = 58 litre
    **1litre = 0.26 gallon so
    58 litre = 15 gallon
    so your tank volume is 58 litre or 15 gallon
    but volume of water is depended on height of water in your tank! so you can calculate volume of your tank water such as above;

  6. Dr. dope says:

    1 gal=264 cubic in
    18x12x17=3672

    3672
    _____ =13.90909090909090909090909090909 so 264 we round to 14.1111111111 your probally missing minor measurments like a 1/4 in that would put it to

    15 gallons

    15 gallon

  8. aquamac says:

    A simple way of computing for the capacity of your tank (in gals) is to divide the volume of your tank (lenght x width x height – all in inches) by 231.

  9. kaneijim says:

    15 gallon

  10. Patrick says:

    The gallons in an aquarium are calculated by multiplying L’ x D’ x H’ X 7.5. These dimensions are in feet not inches. The 7.5 is the number of gallons in a cubic foot. For your aquarium 1.5′ L x 1′ D x 1.42′ H = 2.13 cubic feet which containes 7.5 gallons of water per cubic foot therefore 2.13 x 7.5 = 16 gallons. This is not a standard size in the US though it could be a custom tank, a tank based on litres or the dimensions could be slightly off. If the tank is 18″ x 12″ x 16″ it’s a 15 gallon aquarium and that’s not odd. A 20 gallon is also common though this really doesn’t matter. You have about 16 gallons of water in your aquarium.
