The amount of gravel will depend on the footprint of the tank, sized of the gravel and how deep you would like the gravel bed. For instance in a 55 gallon tank 48″ x 12″, you’ll need 1lb per gallon for a 1 inch bed. Assuming your tank is a standard 50″ rectangle, I would start of with 50 lbs and add more to meed your preference. Good luck. HTH
Working in the pet industry a number of years, we always went by the formula of a pound of gravel per gallon of the tank, so 50 pounds. This normally gave you the medium needed for undergravel filters
You will need 50 Pounds. 1 pound for every gallon.
