the other is a in a hexagon shape and it is 12 in wide with 6 sides 20in across by 24in high.
I am not good with math at all if you could help me out. Thank You

How do you teach your fish to drive a tank?

Measure your aquarium from the left edge to the right edge. Measure your aquarium from the bottom edge to the top edge. Measure the aquarium along the side from the front edge to the back edge. Multiply the three measurements.

This link is for an online calculator where all you need to do is provide the measurements requested for each shape.

The first link doesn’t appear to be working, try this one instead. http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/converter/volume-calculator.php

    US Gallons:
    –Rectangular tank: roughly 4 gallons.
–Hexagonal tank: roughly 2 and a 1/4 gallons.

    UK Gallons:
    –Rectangular tank: roughly 3.5 gallons
    –Hexagonal tank: almost 2 gallons

    Hope that helped ;]

First I will explain how to get the answer. For the first one convert inches to feet. 20 inches is about 1.66667 ft. or 1 and 2/3. Now multiply 4, 1, and 1 and 2/3. That gets you about 6 and 2/3 cubic feet, which is volume. Now I used a converter on my phone to convert the feet to gallons. Which gets you 49.87 gallons.

The second one is a little more complicated. Volume is area of the base multiplied by height. Assuming this is a regular hexagon and that all the hexagons are the same size you take the A=(3√3)/2 t^2. t is the value of the sides, being 20in or 6 and 2/3 ft. Plug into that equation and you get 7.2168750002884 ft squared. Now multiply that by 2 ft which is your height and you get 14.433750000577. Now convert that to gallons and you get about 107.97 gallons.

I hope I did this right, but you should know if the numbers are way off by how large or small your tanks are.
