I need help! these small pink worm things have invaded my aquarium!!! ASAP?

a few months ago i used to feed my fish mosquito larvae from a pond in my garden, and occasionally these little pink worms about a mm(millimeterss thick and about acentimetere long) would come with them. i thought nothing of it. i thought the fish would eat them. but nowevery timee i clean my fish tank hundreds of them come out of the gravel and the tank is polluted with their poo. How can i get rid of these things!!! when i clean the tank next should i move all my fish to a bucket temporarily while i was my gravel with boiling water and clean all my decorations, filter and material and plants. then can i just add the instant healthy bacteria from tetra or must i use biosphera???

help!!!! any other ways of getting rid of them would be appreciated!!thanks!!!

Hi there, If you take a torch with red cellophane over it a couple of hours after the lights go out you will see a whole new life in your tank. Most are harmless. The worms you speak of could be bristle worms or something similar. Without a picture its hard to be sure. Try this link for some useful ID’s http://www.melevsreef.com/id/ Hope that helps.

Sounds like planaria. These are harmful worms, but are a result of over feeding and not cleaning your tank enough. I would recommned steping up your cleaning and decreasing how much you feed. Make sure that your fish eat all the food and that there is none left over, as the planaria eat the leftovers.
