Since it is a small tank you can take out all of the fish, drain the aquarium down to where you have 2/3 of the water left in the tank. Clean it real good & now you can add what decor you wish. Replace the water & add the fish back into the tank.

Before you add the water let it sit out for 12 hours to get rid of the chlorine & some of the other additives that are added to the water. Water straight from the tap either needs to sit for the 12 hours or you can add a slime layer protectant to the water before you add the fish. Water straight from the tap will mess with the fishes slime layer & will predispose them to disease.

Make sure that everything you add to the tank is safe for the fish.

I started out with a couple of twenty gallon tanks & before long I had 3 50 gal. tanks, a 30 gal. tank, 6 20 gal. tanks & about 10 10 gal tanks. They lines my living room walls & really looked neat.

Remember the rule of one inch of fish to 1 gal. of water, don’t over stock your tank.
