I have a question about my goldfish?
Okay, i was looking at my fish, and i saw them move a little bit faster the usual. Is that bad??? Well to be honest, im not sure how fast a fish should swim.
Also i heard that goldfish have, like a 5 second memory span.
Is that true? Cuz, I or my sibling’s sometimes would go
next to the fish tank and they would come closer to the glass,
instead of swimming away.
Is that normal for a goldfish?
Also it’s kind of silly, but we have one goldfish who is
kinda fat(we named him “Fat Louie” lol), and sometimes
when we come next to the tank. We would stick our fingers
into the water and the fish would go next to the and like
lick or i guess even try to eat
the finger?…?….? LOL…….. Weird ha???…
So is that normal also or are my goldfish weird???

trust me, that’s normal for a goldfish!!! i stick my finger in my goldfish’s tank all the time just for fun!!
ps: love the fish name!!!
I think ur goldfish are fine =)
Everything that your describing sounds normal. Goldfish do not have a 5 second memory, that I’m aware of. Them getting close to the glass when your near it is probably them just inspecting who’s outside there home. And yes it’s normal for the fish to try to eat your fingers if you put them in the tank, ours do the same thing. So your fish aren’t weird they sound like normal goldfish. I hope you have a big enough tank for them, when there full grown just one of them needs at least a 20 gallon tank depending on the type of goldfish that you have.
I hope I helped answer your questions.

Wow that’s a lot of questions. I’ll do my best to answer them all.
Fish sometimes just dart around the tank in bursts. The only time that you should really worry about this is if it’s happening all the time and if they’re running into things doing it. It could mean that they’re sick or even being shocked by one of your devices like your filter or heater. (this is very rare however)
The whole “5 second memory” thing with goldfish is very wrong. Recent studies find that fish have very long memories and recognize their owners and can even learn to solve certain puzzles in controlled laboratory tests. The fish come close to the tank because they are greeting you and they want you to feed them. Think about it.
And as for Fat Louie my answer is that fish have no limbs or fingers and they explore their world with their mouths. Where we as people (and certain other animals) tend to explore the world with our hands fish do not have that option. He’s not trying to bite you or eat your finger he’s just checking it out. Fish are a lot more curious than people give them credit for.
Your fish are not “weird” at all. On the contrary, they sound alert, curious and happy. Just be sure not to overfeed them, Louie may need a diet!
Dont worry haha goldfish are very weird. They have a memory span of three seconds. They maybe think they are being feed if people are coming up to them (experience !)
fat louie thinks your finger is some sort of food but NEVER put your finger in the water. Poeple have very harmfull chemicals to fish in their skin so you could be killing your fish (sorry to be harsh)
hope this helps
No, that’s normal goldfish behavior. Goldfish have more than a 5 second memory, that’s just a myth. They can recognize their owner (that’s why they swim to you when your close to the tank, they know who you are). They can recognize their owner’s voice to. they can even do tricks like swimming through a hoop, following your finger and push a marble around.
