Pihranas need atleast 1000 gallons. To smal for them.

Pirhana’s should be kept in shoals, and your tank will quickly get too small. 150 gallons for 6 is the best way to go. Your filtering system is probably better off as a sump.
pirhanas are illegal so assisting anyone would make you culpable legally sorry
I agree a sump is the best filter but there are more economical possibilities. A canister filter is a very good option as well. Get the 300 gallon rated filter. Piranha do well in larger tanks but should do fine as long as you keep it very clean and dont buy over three or four fish in that tank. I know they recommend 150 gallons but its not set in stone.
there are lots of opinions about what is best filtration for aquariums but I have a couple of hints to give you. First go the Walmart, Petsmart, Petco and look on-line (say Drs Foster ^ Smith) and see what filter accessories and supplies are readily available. You don’t want to run out of filter media or carbon only to find out you have to wait 3 weeks for you supplies to come in from Indonesia. Tetra has a couple of good filters and you would probably need two of the 60 gallon size like the Whisper 60 and supplies are available most places. Aqua Advisor site has a good long list of filters.
The question was what’s the best filter for the type of fish and tank. Not whether or not it’s legal or big enough.
Two 55 gallon or higher rated filters are your best bet.
