How to turn a gumball machine into a fish tank?
NICER ANSWERS THIS TIME PLEASE!!
Someone did something to make my last question get deleted. I don’t know why, because the people responding were the ones being rude. So, I lost all the good answers of how to actually do this.
I would like to do this:

I have a gumball machine that I’d like to make into a fish bowl for a betta fish. It’s the same size bowl as used for the betta fish bowls with the plants on top. Would it be better to just put a fish bowl on top of the gumball machine part? Or is there a way to “clog” the bottom of the gumball bowl, so the water and fish stuff doesn’t go inside the gumball machine?
HEY KARIE G! I don’t want to use the gumball machine to dispense gum and a fish tank TOGETHER, what a moron!! Your the one who needs to get a life, because you obviously have nothing better to do than leave mean comments on yahoo answers. YOU “GET A LIFE” A$$ HOLE!!!
and Football4ever260… That is soo cool that you made a whole new yahoo ID, just so you could leave a comment on my question… I bet you feel really cool because you did that… And I could care less about your immature and rude opinion. Thanks for nothing!
Thank you Vanilla and Peach for your kind answers!
Hey Finatic… If betta fish don’t belong in bowls, then where do they belong? In a bathtub??? Where else do you keep a fish, hahaha, that was hilarious, thanks for the good laugh!!

just put water in it? lol thats funny
I think you’d be better off putting a regular bowl on top of the machine part. If you “clog” it with something, you run the risk of getting a leak later, and that would be bad news for your floor and your fish.
Karie, thats rude =/
I’d say, just take off the top plastic bit, and seal inside of the bottom with a hard plastic sheet, a bit below the top. Then find a fitting fish bowl, and simply place it on, so you can clean it and such by taking it off. If you left the normal gum ball machine top, the fish would probably die from intoxication or something.
It sounds like an awesome idea, goodluck with it
thats actually an awsome idea, whats wrong with some of the rude answers? You need to go and get some kitchen and bathroom silicon and some plexy glass at a hardware store (really cheap) and of course a gumball machine. Cut the plexy glass to the size needed to cover a place where it would be completly leveled. Then silicon it into place and leave it dries for at least a week to limit toxic level cover with sand and rocks and there you go
Fish do not belong in a Gumball machine converted or not.
Betta don’t belong in bowls, either. It really seems your looking to make a “trendy” accessory for your home. It’s inhumane to cage a fish in a gumball machine. How would you clean the glass/acrylic and do water changes? How would you feed it? How would you keep it warm enough?
Oh, and by the way…. most likely your question was reported and deleted by Yahoo! for calling people morons, dick heads and bitc**s.
HI KC, Nice idea but as all fish need a filter the problem you are going to have is getting one to fit & that’s after you have ensured the glass part is completely waterproofed at it’s base. Added to that there really isn’t much room in there for a Betta because despite general belief they need more than a couple of gallons to be happy & all fish need filters.
I have done a vast amount of customising & creative design work in in my time so take it from me, unless you have a lot of experience with this type of thing as well as a few hundred dollars worth of power tools you will not have a satisfactory result & may endanger the life of your fish. Even if you do manage to waterproof the base of the glass you will have a nightmare installing the filter & I won’t even mention the lighting & electrics…………!
Instead how about buying him a nice 10 gallon tank with a filter & fitted lid-he will have the room he needs & you will be able to watch him in an environment he’s happy in. I’m sorry if this wasn’t the answer you wanted to hear.
Bettas don’t belong in bowls OR in vases with plants on the top. They belong in tanks. They also need filters and heaters, so how are you going to get those in your gumball machine?
it will not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
