How often should I change the water in my 10 gallon aquarium?

I have a 10 gallon aquarium in that aquarium i have 3 platies 3 danios and a pleco. How often should I do a water change and how often should I change the filter cartridge.

Well it doesn’t take take long, i recommend you that you should change the water evey three or four weeks, and to change that filter, about two years so you still a long way to go.
Do a 25% water change about once a week, you usually change the carbon foam every 4 to 6 weeks. I buy a big sheet from my petshop, it lasts alot longer and i just have to cut it to size when i want some. What kind of pleco do you have. Some can get to 2ft or more
25 percent monthly with a gravel vacuum, minimum, bi-weekly would be better. your carbon should be changed once a month, carbon loses its effectiveness after that. your gravel and aquarium decorations will have plenty of bacteria to keep it cycled.
25% a week is generally recommended…
however, your tank stocking is not the greatest. danios need to be kept in groups of 5 or more and there is no pleco small enough for a 10gallon. pleco are also extremely messy, since you’re overstocked you’ll probably need to do more frequent water changes… test your water, do water changes as needed to keep the nitrate below 40ppm.
as for the filter cartridge, don’t. the filter is where most of the good bacteria lives. when you change the filter the tank has to recycle again.
they just want you to spend more money. remove the carbon in the pad (you may have to cut it open) and then rinse the pad off in the water your remove from the tank during water changes every other week to keep it from getting clogged.
