How much weight can a 4 ft. pressure treated 2×6 hold if doubled?

I am currently preparing to build a Aquarium Stand (48×24). It must hold up to 2,000 lbs. I am using lag bolts and doubling all 2×6′s

    b-4 u build this u better make sure your floor can handel it,,,it would have to be a cement slab,not Standard stick construction

    I have built many a fish tank stand and you have no need to double the 2×6. You could even get away with 2×4 not doubled for such a small tank. The important part is the legs and bracing. Plywood is a miracle of modern science use it and use it well.

    If you turn the members on end and lag them together, you can use 2X4′s(the 4″ to the 4″). Especially if you screw 5/8″ plywood to the top. A single 2X6 is more than sufficient(turned 2″ up) to hold the weight. The problem with wood is you have no control over built in defects (knots, etc…) that greatly deminish the strength of the member. Hence, the 2 – 2X4′s. also put liquid nails adhesive between members before lagging together. Good luck.
