how many watts per gallon do i need for my aquarium?
i have purchased a 120litre jewel aquarium in which i intend to keep tropical fish. How many wattts do i need for a heater?

It depends on how much you need to raise the water temperature. You need a bigger heater if you want to keep a tank at 85 F in a 60-degree room than if you want to keep a tank at 76 F in a 70-degree room.
In general, though, a 100-watt to 150-watt heater should be sufficient for your tank, which is about 31.5 U.S. gallons.
