i have lots of tanks, smallest was 3 gallons, i got rid of it because it’s too unstable for water quality and heating, i really don’t know how a 1 gallon could ever properly cycle, also read up on guppies, they need alot more room
you dont really need to cycle a 1 gallon
You can’t put anything in there except a few ghost shrimps thats it and no you can’t put any type of fish in there what so ever!
it depends…. can take a week to several months. test your water to see when its done. what you can do to speed up this process is at the pet store buy live bacteria (witch is good and the fish need) and then your tank is cycled! thats all you really can do with a tank that small. also make sure your water quality is good and all that stuff. hope this helped and good luck! =)
less than a few hour. 3 guppy will do fine in that one gallon.
It’s not a “how long” question…it’s a “when”.
All tanks have to be cycled…no exceptions for volume.
1 gallon may cycle faster (less volume) but would depend on how you seeded the bacteria and how you fed the bacteria.
Explanation of why and how…
For 3 Guppies…it could be done,but really shouldn’t.They deserve elbow room too.I wouldn’t do it to 1 betta,sure wouldn’t do it to 3 Guppies.
For ideas for things that can be done…
…explore a little.
give it 24 hrs. add a male maybe two. if you get male and female the tank wont be good breeding courters. dont over feed your tank..it will raise the ph and amonia fast because it is so small. a pich a day or two should be ok for two fish. add one fish first, few days later add the other.
1 gallon? it would take a couple of weeks to cycle but where would the fish go even a small filter would take up half the space in there then you have to submerge a heater/stat, you’ve already taken up half the tank and the displacement means your down to about 3/4 of a gallon, then we have the surface area, how much oxygen do you reckon is in 3/4 of a gallon of water? not enough to sustain 3 fish thats for sure, they’ll be suffering for oxygen from the word go.
Put soil in it and buy a plant.
