do i have to turn it off once in awhile? or does it stay on 24/7? its in a 55 gal tank with mosquito fish so far.
and what kind of fish can i put with mosquito fish? i want a sucker or algae cleaner fish and some of those tetra neons.. compatiable? if not tell me what else i can do

Yes, it does stay on for 24/7, this gives the fish oxygen. It’s like u needing oxygen 24/7, you can turn in off for maybe a few hours if you’re gonna change the water or sumthin, but on reg. occasions, it’s left on 24/7. Hope this helps,

24/7.
air pumps are supposed to run 24/7
cories and tetras are pretty neutal with other fish
those sharks-i’ve heard of them sucking scales off other fish.
An air pump is not really necessary as long as you have adequate filtration and surface agitation.
If you have one, you don’t have to run it 24/7.
I maintain a bunch of tanks including a 180-gal with fair sized fish (some over 6 inches) and don’t use air pumps or other aeration devices, proof that they are not required.
Can’t ever recall seeing them used in public aquariums either.
it stay on 24/7
you can turn it off at night if you like, but it’s probably better to keep it on all the time. as long as you have some water circulating constantly it should be okay, if you turn off your air pump then make sure your filter is still running at night.
not sure about the mosquito fish compatibility.
Leave it on Because its a big tank and it helps the fish so dont turn it off ever.
i leave mine on 24/7
I leave mine on 24/7, works fine, better for oxygenating the water. Leave it on.
