How long can a saltwater fish tank go without power?

I am planning on getting a 12 gallon JBJ Nano cube. I live in Michigan so it is extremely hot and humid in the summer and freezing in the winter and the power seems to go out, not often. But for the rare occasions that it does I would like to be prepared because I can’t really afford a generator at the moment but would like to make it a priority. How long can it go without power? Also if you have any tips on how to save it or generators or anything that would help it would be greatly appreciated : )
haha, most do except us.

Buy some 2″ polystyrene/styrofoam from Home depot and make yourself a box that fits over and round your tank. It will keep the tank temp stable for 6-8 hours.

I thought all of Michigan moved to Florida and South carolina in the winter:)

Filtration should be ok if you have live rock, One thing that you must not do whilst you have no power to your aquarium, is to feed the fish or marine life in the tank. You can always do a partial water change if needed. The real big issues are de-oxygenation and water movement get a battery operated air pump. Use a blanket to help retain the heat. Cooling-put some (bags)of ice and these will help to bring the temperature down to an acceptable level. Take out some water before doing this. Your aquarium saltwater fish, plants, and other marine life, can happily live in the tank for 24 hours or longer with some work without any power being supplied to it.
