how do I make fish divider using things around the house?

Okay so i have two male bettas who do not get along since their fighting fish, but I only have one tank and I have no money to buy a divider. How can I make a fish divider without using egg crates or any sort of plexi glass? PLEASE HELP!! thanks(:

You should have used they’re, not their.

Dont use things from around the house. Theyre ineffective and could cause serious harm. Just save up some cash and go buy it. For the sake of the fish.

use a lid or bottom from an old storage box or similar. Use a piece of glass from a picture frame.

Since MacGyver didn’t answer yet, I’ll give a try.

If your house is like ours, you have some plastic lids for storage boxes or food storage that don’t seem to fit any box you know of. Where they come from, I have no clue. However put one of them that’s big enough on the end of your aquarium and mark it where the inside of the glass is and the outside. Cut that away. Scissors seem safest but it depends on the plastic type. Leave some of the outer marks on as a “hook” to hang it on top of the aquarium and leave some of the old lid edge on the top side to strengthen it across the top of the aquarium. Move some of the tank decorations against the bottom of the new divider to keep the fish from pushing it out of position. This may affect your heater and filter, keeping the clean water and warmth on one side. If it looks like it will do that, get a nail or metal wire and heat it on a burner or something you have at home. Holding it with pliers, melt holes in the divider too small for the fish but large enough to allow some water to circulate. It will e a good thing if the plastic is solid color or cloudy since then the bettas won’t be able to see each other, in which case you might have to worry about them jumping over the divider to get at each other.
