yes
you should get a school of otocinclus, and they will do all the glass and ship work. Black mollies will clean all of your fake plnts. I ahve these fish and now my tank is spottless!
A lot of algae eating fish don’t eat enough algae to be worth it. Plecos are reasonably good. Just make sure to get one of the smaller varieties, as a common pleco can grow to be enormous.
To clean without fish, get a scrubbing brush made for aquariums. Since your plants are fake, you can just pull them out and scrub them under some tap water. No soap or chemicals of any kind, of course.
On the other hand, having a little algae in your tank is not bad and can actually be beneficial to your aquarium. Of course you don’t want it growing on the glass, but you might consider leaving the algae on your ship at least.
If your tank ornaments or fake plants are turning black, it’s usually because of poor water quality caused by insufficient water changes. You should be changing 25-30% of the water every 7 days.
What I do is take them all out once a month set them out in the sun. The sun will kill off the algae and any other critters on it then you gently brush them off with a stiff brush. Then rinse, dry off an then place back in your tank.
