How do i get that fishy smell out of my aquarium?

I know smartass, it’s an aquarium so it smells like fish. But i have seen aquariums that just smell like oxidized water. My water is clean, i do water changes every week or two. i have a functional filter.

I’ve got the same problem. I had 3 aquariums in my room and my whole room smells like fish.

Do regular water changes, 20-25% a week and sometimes a day. The smell is due to the fact that your tanks bacterial colonies haven’t yet grown to the size with which they can handle the amount of fish waste your fish are producing. Water changes help dilute the fish waste levels, and thus help the bacteria take care of them

A gravel vacumn is always a good idea. The powerful smell is probably from the gravel and left over food. It might help to cut back a little on feeding for a while and see. Vacumn the gravel too. Be sure and do your partial water changes weekly. Even my small tanks get a smell when they are not had a water change on schedule.

You should get a gravel vacuum if your tank is 10 g or more. they do tend to be costly though.
