how can i keep freshwater fish(chub,roach)in a fish tank at home?

i have tried a few very small chub and minnows but they died after 1 day and they had fin rot! How can i keep these fish safley and healtherly? please help or any advise will help.

What is wrong with this question? You didn’t tell is whether or not you added dechlorinater, or if you have a filter, how big your tank is, or anything else that might help make a diagnosis. Give me a bit of info, and I’ll edit this post with some helpful info for you.

1) Ph level should be 7 if it isn’t get ph neutralizers
2)Add aquarium salt to help the fish relax
3) Keep your nitrates and nitrites in order. If their not it is easy to find a stabalizer.
4) Make sure your water isn’t too hard, if it is add some amazon rain
5) Your pet store can reccommend some chemicals.
6) Make sure you have a filter.

I had a baby Perch when I was 12. You need to make sure that the water quality is to the species specifications. Make sure the tank size is adequate and clean. Research is key.
clean water, well oxyigenated, and some aquarium salt. Thats the recipe for when your in trouble.
