Hoe can I convince my dad to let me get goldfish!!!?
My mom and dad decided to let me get my own 37 gallon tank. We are using the stand that used to hold my turtles in untill we upgraded them to a 65 gallon tank. So they are letting me put a 37 gallon tank on there as my own tank (Yay, my own tank thats bigger than 8 gallons!) and I just LOVE goldfish! Fancy goldfish! The best fish god created! lol! All of the tanks we have are tropical or saltwater, so obviously we can’t put a goldfish in one of those. Well. I want to put 2 fancies in the new tank…but my dead HATES goldfish! As a kid ALL of his goldfish died cuz he did not know how to take good care of them. So now he HATES all goldfish and will not let me get any! How can I convince him to let me get some!! He will let me have a tank, just not the fish I want! grrrr!
He willl say no to 2 “tiny” goldfish, cuz he knows they will get 6-8 inches.

Its not that it is a convieniant animal. We are way past that now with 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 2 turtles, 2 birds(1 is a green wing macaw I have to play with every day, but I just love him so much!) 1 tortoise and 1 bearded dragon. We also have lots of other fish tanks set up. He just has a grudge agains goldfish and oscars. Cuz an oscar ate all his baby swordtails ad a kid! So he hates goldfish and oscars. But I know 37 gallons is to small for an oscar!
oh yes and I left out my 2 prized african dwarf frogs!=)
for the acualy fish I would get, I was thinking a lionhead…and not sure about the other 1…but a smaller tank with dwarf seahorses would be cool to….
No, the turtle tank was cut halfwat down, so we could not fill it up very much, we where gonna buy another tank. But if it was not cut halfway down, we could use it after we clean it out.

goldfish are actually stupid/forgetful- what?? thats a dumb reason! ask him to jut egt 2 tiny goldfish* i dont see what to say to that lol!
How i Got My parents to get me a fish was that i said
. You Don’t Have To Play with Them
.Their cages aren’t that bad to change
. they would look nice in anyones house
.they don’t eat alot
And Then i turned out to have 3 zebra danios 2 fantail goldfish(small) and 2 snails!
just tell them that goldfish are beautiful rather you will get a dog or bird which will poo in the house and noisy. Or just use your allowance to buy them.

Well, I hope you are not planning on putting the goldfish in the tank that housed turtles, cause then your argument will be for naught when you bring your new goldfish home, plop them in the turtle tank.
And they all die.
Aquariums used for reptiles/amphibians should never be used for fish again.
The reason why your dad is so skeptical about goldfish and oscars is probably because he knows their waste and care levels. I can’t blame him! Goldfish aren’t the easiest fish to keep, and he probably thinks the tank could be used for other tropical easier fish…
But anyway. We can’t really change your dads mind, but what you can do is just prove and convince him that you’ll be taking care of the goldfish. I’m pretty sure you already know how to take care of them, so it’s all up to you really. Since turtles are quite messy as well, show your devotion by being the sole keeper of the turtles for a while and he’ll see that you have what it takes.
P.S. Fancy Goldfish aren’t necessarily God’s creation, unless you found a snazzy comet goldfish… they’re like the human’s mutations!
EDIT: Turtle tanks can be used for fish, as long as they’re thoroughly rinsed with water and some bleach for a looong time. Make sure to remove all traces of bleach, but it’s really the best thing you can do to clean your tank. You can also try cleaning it with salt, making sure it’s thoroughly rinsed afterwards as well.
OK this happened to me with my dad and now i have 2 goldfish andgoing back for 1 more heres what u do u show him u r very responsible and if that doesnt work keep on begging a say u no how to take care of them hope this helps
