Hide aquarium heater in glass vase?

I have a baby turtle in my aquarium with a tube-like heater. Could I hide aquarium heater in glass vase? The heater would fit , then I’d place suction cups on the inside.
The heater is able to be fully submerge-able , even near the bottom, could lay it on the side with the end near a wall so he couldn’t get in. Is it full proof? Would the heat be able to heat the tank? He keeps trying to sit on top on the heater..where the knob is, not the actual hot part? Is he ok?
Do you think he could scratch the wiring with his claws?
I wouldn’t think it to be submersible either but the directions say that it is, etc. :\

reptiles are super cool, but not always super smart. if there is something warm they will sit/lie on it, even if they’re skin is starting to burn.
vase sounds like a very smart idea.
and for goodness sake, no “hot rock”s!
The heat from the heater would decrease the life of the suction cups. Hold it in place with rocks.
You need the water to be able to flow freely around the heater. If you put the heater in the gravel, or in a container, the water which is trapped around the heater will get warm enough to turn the heater off, while the rest of the water in the aquarium is cold.
If you want to hide the heater, you could put it in the filter tank, if yours is large enough.
The heater may be “waterproof” but it is probably not fully “submersible”. Keep the cord out of the water.
