Fish tank decoration/ornament glue…?

Hey, I have something I want to put in my fish tank but is too light. I want to glue it to a base and I was wondering what type of glue I could use. I was talking to the guy at petsmart and he told me I would not have to get the aquarium silicone. He said that super glue, gorilla glue, or hot glue would all be fine as long as they have sufficient time to dry. Has anyone tried this before? I would prefer to use glue that I have already instead of spending $6 on silicone when I only need a dime size amount. (of course I don’t want to hurt my fish)

You could use superglue as long as it is gel based, and hot glue would be fine too. I’d be careful with Gorilla Glue, though, as I’m not exactly sure what makes it any different than any other glue.

EDIT: Just found out… Since Gorilla Glue is water activated, it won’t stay solid underwater, making it virtually useless for your purpose.

Use aquarium sealant. Just let it sit for three days or so before you put it in water. n____n I’m not sure if normal glue will be okay in a fishtank, it may leak chemicals into the water… so I wouldn’t chance it. Better safe than sorry, right?

do not use super glue gorrilla glue etc. because they may contain harmful chemicals that can kill your fish. make the investment and buy the silicone, who knows, you may need it in the future.
