hey S, glad you could see some of what Los Angeles has to offer… just like being a kid in a candy store.
that is one awesome shop!!
hey Jim, u are “the best from the best sir!”
my name is Sebastian, and I’m from Transylvania (the north-western Romania – Europe). I own a 160 lt (fowlr yet) tank, and I just whant to tell u that this is difficult to maintain here because of a great lack of serious healthy retailers!! I go to neibourgh contry (Hungary) where they are a little bit further in this area!
It’s a dream of mine to visit a store as u presented today in this video!!!
Great video!
@lafishguy thank you guys! i’m acutally gonna go check em out today
hey C, I assume you are refering to Vivid Aquarium? they are in Canoga park, check out their web site for address and directions.
where is this place? would you mind telling me? i wanna go visit it.
Jim you rock! My wife and I are getting a 75 gal tank soon. A much needed upgrade from our 10 gal reef.
Love your videos!!
Also, I bet it’s hard to compete with harvested corals as a coral aquaculture grower. You are going to have to charge significantly more. Also, it’s extremely hard to know how damaging what you are buying was on the environment.
If this really destroys coral aquaculturing then that’s not good. But that depends on how permits are handed out. Inter-state trade, that’s an US thing. Donno why US people care about state borders.
Those kind of bans work. You are also against the ban on ivory and whale hunting?
It will be better for the SPS corals. And you can still produce them with a permit. Reef aquarium hobby is doing it’s fair share of damage and for a long time people haven’t taken their responsibility. Sounds like you are one of them. You don’t want people in 100 or 500 years to enjoy coral? Either in the wild or in an aquarium?
I don’t get it. If they make all this illegal don’t you think corals would end up like guns and drugs? People proping them in their basement, sneaking them across state lines. After you ban something the black market goes crazy. Prices will skyrocket and fragmenting them would probably only get worse.
Tree huggers should stick with saving the trees.
@AcanLord TRY BUYING HYDRO FARM T5 VHO 8 BULB FIXTURE. I HAVE A 90 GALLON AND IT IS BEAST!!!!!
I went on vivid aquariums website and they have a whole section on the 800 gallon showtank!!! it has an awesome refugium. Thanks jim!
@procharged70cutlass yea i went on their website and they said it was 800 gallons not 420
vivid aquariums looks awesome!!! one of the best reefs ive seen too!
about time fishguy!!!! i was getting the shakes.
you used to post vids every week? is buisness slow now?
you have some very good videos i all ways enjoy watching them
hey P, you should contact Vivid direct for the answers you seek. i am sure its much bigger than 420 gallons… and I have no idea what errors you are refering to are.
The cool thing about that frag tank is that it is set up as a surge tank which is cool to watch.
jim did they give any details on flow rates. return pump size power head size , quant? … im assuming this was a 420 gallon tank by the looks. did you get episode one fixed yet?
Thanks so much Jim for taking the camera with you! In Melbourne (Australia) our biggest aquarium store only has 4 30 gallon tanks with corals!
@lafishguy Yah i think so too.
Its good because from what i remember its got the same dimensions as a
75 except that its several inches taller. I cant remember the number though.
anyway i thought it would be great to go with a 90 instead of a 75 because it wouldn’t used up any more floor space while still adding that extra gallonage.
hey A, a 90 is a good size tank.
Looks like Candy to me LAfishguy.
I`m setting up a 90G soon and i am going LPS and SPS with that one.
I`m going for the T5VHO Teklights because of the heat problems regarding halides. I might do halide later on when i have more resources though.
I may also have to get a 45 gallon setup for my currently Over growing softies.
“they took over a biocube in no time flat”
Another great video Jim. My jaw dropped when the camera hit that 14 footer. Very impressive. Looking forward to future videos.
