Eheim Canister Filter Classic Plus – 2215 – up to 93 Gallon

Good filter as others have said, but the set-up instructions are extremely poor. Considering that you are dealing with electricity, large volumes of water, water under pressure, and interior floors, one would think that Eheim would do a better job of helping avoid potentially disastrous mistakes in set-up. Prepare to search the internet for help.

This is a great replacement to the extremely loud MarineLand Emporor 400. Works like a charm, very quite, less maintenance.
I was a little confused while installing this filter, so I decided to document the process and write an article on it. A must read if you are planning to purchanse this unit.

read reviwes, asked friends at LFS, did my research, saved the $$$, and am “NOT DISAPPOINTED”, Quiet= can’t hear it runing, works great, helped cycling my new 45 gallon in 14 days, what else you need, crystal clear water, happy fish, solid filter, i did buy an ehiem 2217 impeller and swapped it with the original 2215 impeller, and the flow rate increased by almost 90 gallons/h, it was a great idea that i read about when i was doing my research like i said befor, my recommendation is “NOT” to use any media bags to hold the media in the canister cause they lead to media bypass cause the water will take the least resistant path , and that will be in between the bags, the cleaning may be little harder that way, but the results will amaze you, the media is not that easy to get blocked, i cleaned it first time after 5 month and not becuase it was blocked but cuase i wanted to see what is going on with my media and my lovely bacteria, and all was fine, if u decided to get that filter so enjoooooooooooy, Regards , Amazon …well done

Well, I received mine yesterday and hooked it up after work. As everyone says, the instructions are terrible, but they give you a general idea of what is going on. I used these sites to help with installation.

Also, if you have the valves open on the intake and output tubes, the canister will prime itself. I just hooked it up, the canister and tubes filled and I plugged it in. There wasn’t even any air left in the canister. Very pleased so far!!

i have the Eheim Canister Filter Classic Plus – 2215 and it works flawlessly. i have a 65 gal tank and used a filtered powerhead and a over the side aquaclear waterfall type filter before this, and the eheim does sooo much better.
one complaint is that i wish it was able to oxygenate the water, so i wouldnt have to clutter the tank with the power head.
