Does a floating moss ball make a fish tank cloudy?

I have a ten gallon tank with four fish in it. None of the fish are over two inches long and I don’t think that they will be growing much more if at all. I bought a floating moss ball to put in the tank because at the store they told me that it helps with algae. I do not have algae… however my tank is really cloudy. When there were other fish in there, and no moss ball the tank was crystal clear and the water was not changed nearly as much. Now I do two water changes a month and clean off the fake plants every other time. Nothing… Help?

I have fish of my own
might I suggest some kind of fish shocking chemicals. I don’t remember what it’s called but it helps with water staying clear, and when you change water you put a teaspoon in (1 tsp per 10 gallons) and so the fish won’t be in shock when they get put in the new water.
Take the moss ball out. Real plants will make it cloudy. If you have an air bubbler in the tank, that’s all you need, just use fake plants.
Have you tired to change the water? It could be that your ammonia levels are high.
If the moss ball is not getting sufficient light to thrive, it may die a little at a time which can throw off the water parameters. This will make the tank cloudy. I would take out the moss ball, do a 50 % water change and see if you can’t get your tank to stabilize. Properly cared for plants will not make the tank cloudy. You will need to research the type of plant you want and see what type of lighting you need.
