could i keep a few small angel fish in my aquarium??read extra info?
my local shop sells massive angels and tiny angels, which are about 4inch, they look extremely happy and active, could i keep a few im my aquarium, i also have a few neons and platies(which are under medication for ich, i will not add any new fish untill i ahve removed the problem 100%, also i currently have 1 male fancy guppy(all his freinds have died of moving stress and fin rot), 4 female assorted platies, 4-6neon tetras(beliving they will not live long eaten or not), 2 pepper corys and 2 algae eating shrimp, my aquarium is large and gives minimum space for angels(fully grown), and is densly planted in the back and middle ground with space for swimming avaiable. I have checked compatability charts, and appaently they will be fine, but i have also been told otherwise, since the angels are small they shouldnt be able to eat or seriosuly injuse any fish exept the neons and maybe the guppy, any ideas people?

yeah you should be able to
I think it should be fine. But you could always ask someone who has more expertise with it, talk to the person who sells the fish if it’s like at a Pet-Smart or something. They should give you a good answer.
Angel fish belong to a group called chichilds and they are known to be aggressive, i have kept them fine in tanks with smaller fishes but every now and then i see the angel fish nipping the smaller fish tail, in my other tank i cannot keep any angel fish as they will attack the smaller fish. If you really want to keep them look for small angel fish and get them quite young and do not keep males in the tank, as they will cause more trouble. I wouldn’t keep angel fish again with other smaller fish myself.
First of all, how big is your tank? Angel fish are cichlids and quite territorial. The minimum size tank recommended for a pair of angels is 30 gallons. Angels are fin nippers, too as you seem to understand. You are definitely on the right track with the densley planted tank and you obviously done your compatibly research. What concerns me the most about your potential set-up is that you have the “minimum” space for fully grown angels. I wouldn’t risk putting potentially aggressive, fin nipping angels into an established tank. I wouldn’t want your other tank inhabitants put at risk, either. I wouldn’t recommend adding the angel fish.
those angles fish are going to eat the little ones.aggressive little critters when they want to be
i didnt even finish it but once you said neons i said no read other questions peoplea re wondering why there angels are killing there little fish cause the cichlids man cichlids are mean jack demsy…mean oscar….mean red blood parrot…mean green terror…mean flower horn meean angels yes are less agressive but are capable read a fish book it will help and it seems you already have problems with fish so calm down im not being mean im trying to save you hassle
I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet but ..
Neon tetras are Angelfish’s prey!! they eat neons!! i’m surprised that noone’s done their research on this.
Ok as for the rest of your question. How big is your aquarium? If it’s at least a 30 gallon, you can try and keep a few small angels and raise them til you get a pair. After that, you have to pull out the others. (in order to breed)
Platies will be ok with the angels, as they usually don’t bother them. the neon tetras will get eaten. The pepper corys will be fine.. but the shrimp i don’t know that they’ll be around long.
BTW Angelfish grow up to 6-7 inches in length and up to a foot in height (fins) if kept in ideal conditions. If you have angels that are stunted in growth, they are not “mini-angels” nor are they “dwarf angels”. They’re angels in poor health and will probably die in a few months due to complications from health.
Either way, good luck and i hope you keep reading up on these answers and do you rresearch.
Im wondering the same thing. In SeaPets, Colchester they sell a breed of angelfish called ”small angel fish” they are fully grown but yet about 1/4 of the size of a door knob.
They should be fine with all sorts of fish exept Oscars probably. They eat others. Lol. I would also help if you had some plants (real or fake) in the aquarium or ornaments that smaller fish can hide in if nessercary. Just in case.
Thanks
