What’s Going On In My 10 Gallon Aquarium?

My fish aquarium recently started forming this brown stuff on my plants, small feeding plate (for my African Dwarf frogs), hiding cave and gravel. I THINK it’s brown algae, but I’m not sure. I don’t know exactly what has caused it, and I’m afraid that it could be toxic to my fish and frogs. I just cleaned the water and gravel two weeks ago, and I plan on cleaning it again today (I always clean it every two to three weeks). I have a carbon filter, which I change every time I clean the tank. I give the tank between 12 and 15 hours of light a day (which has made my plants very happy since I changed the amount of lighting months ago (it use to be only 5 to 7 hours a day)). I feed my fish and frogs once a day.
Also, my fish’s back fins seem to be shredding almost? And my male frogs seem to have gotten smaller and almost look pale-ish and sick. This started before the brown stuff and it got better after I cleaned the tank really well. What’s going on and could this be because of what’s going on in my tank right now? How can I fix it?
Here is what I have in my tank and the products I use for the tank:
- carbon filter
- gravel
- small swordtail plants
- small anubius plants
- small hide-y cave
- small terra cotta plate
- mixed guppies fish (6 – all male)
- beta (1 – male)
- golden zebra danio (1 – male?)
- African Dwarf frogs (4 – two male; two female)
- API Stress Coat (when I clean and add water/fish to the tank)
- API Leaf Zone (only when I change the water or the plants are looking “not so great”)
- API Melafix (my dad just got me this. I haven’t used it yet but I plan on it today)
- Aqueon Betta Bowl Plus (when clean the tank (should I use this or is the Stress Coat okay for bettas?))
- Aqueon Betta Food
- Omega One Freshwater Flakes
- HBI Frog and Tadpole Bites
The shredding of the fins and the brown stuff has only happened recently. I have never had any problems with the tank before this, and the fish, frogs and plants have always been happy. I don’t know what is going on. If you can help, that would be amazing. Thanks!

Sick Betta Fish, Help With Diagnosis/treatment?

I got a male betta dragon a few days ago. He was doing fine until yesterday when I realised his pectorial fins have been moving very rapidly. I don’t think that’s normal. He’s also been a bit lethargic and lying on the floor of the tank, and sometimes he floats directly under his small bubble nest. His fins are slightly clumped together. This morning, he began darting around a little around the tank. He is still eating, but only a little (about 2 pellets in the morning, and 2 pellets in the evening) which I don’t think is enough.
I’m worried it’s early signs of velvet or ich, but I’m not 100% sure because he doesn’t have any white spots on him and he doesn’t have any gold dusting either. However, his symptoms are definitely not normal. I called the pet shop up today and they said to give him regular water changes. I’m also installing a filter tomorrow. He is currently in a 20 litre (5.2 gallon) tank with no other tank mates at all. For now I’ve turned he lights off and closed the curtains as well as having done a partial water change. The water has been conditioned the entire time. He has a heater set at 25-26 degrees celsius.
Is there anything I can do? I want to get some medications for him, but then again I’m not sure what’s wrong with him. Could someone help, please?

Is My Guppy Sick? What Should I Do?

My tetras weren’t getting along with my guppy so I seperated him in his own tank, but the problem is his tank doesn’t have an aerator or heater or filter and I don’t have the money to buy those. It’s been a week and now my guppy won’t eat and its losing scales and color. I want to put him back in the other tank that’s set up for tropical fish but what if he gets my other fish sick and they all die? What should i do?

My Beta Fish Is Sick! Help Please?!?

Okay so I have a female betta fish in a smaller tank. It’s more like, a plastic tank thing, I don’t really know how to describe it. ANYWAYS, my fish is one of those fish with a personality, so she normally moves around a lot, so I’m not sure if her new found extra energy is normal or not. On top of that, she was also purple and now she’s almost completely white, her tail has gotten smaller, and her gills are red. I’m not used to having sick fish so I have no idea what to do when they’re sick, and I don’t know what’s wrong with her, but I don’t want her to die because she’s a pretty cool fish… haha, not going to lie. But PLEASE HELP. Asap! [Not sure if this would have anything to do with it but for some odd reason my mom likes to pet her? O__o (and the fish enjoys it) but would that have something to do with it?]
Put into a nutshell:
Extra energy(more energetic than normal)
red gills
loss of color.. she’s actually kind of yellow?
smaller tail (possibly tail rot)
She still eats normally. I feed her baby shrimp because that’s all she’s ever eaten and she refuses to eat anything else (Who knew a fish could be so strange?)
ANY advice will help! thank you.

My Otocinclus Catfish? Please Answer :p?

I have 5 Otos in my 10 gallon community tank. I’ve read a lot about catfish, and most of the sources say that catfish don’t have scales, so they are more prone to diseases then most other fish. Well, not that I don’t take care of my fish, but I don’t change the water very often and none of my Otos have ever been sick. Is it just that my filter is real nice? Or that these cats are just more hardy than other catfish?

Sick Pot Belly Gold Fish!!!?

I have a orange and white potbelly, his color is real dull and it looks like and he is loosing all the color in his tail, he has little white spots all over his body. he was fine two days ago.. he gets fed once a day with floating pellets. There are three younger potbellys in the tank and they are fine.

I Think My Blue Guppy Might Be Sick?

I think my guppy might be sick.
I have 3 guppies in the tank which I got last month.
I also have 7 neon tetras, 4″ pleco, 1 albino corydora cat, 1 dwarf gourami
, 1 frog.
I have everything for the tank, filter, heater, air pump, gravel, decorations and water conditioner. I never had fish before and everyone I know has never had fish as well. The tank is 30gallon.
Pictures are from google,
His tail used to be something like,http://www.fancyguppies.co.uk/USERIMAGES…
Now it looks more like,http://breeding-guppies.com/images/Heade…
I think he may have a darker face then before. Though, I’m to sure about that.
He has a very large tail, much larger then the other two, They are all males.
