Ok Fish “experts”, Define This?

A happy fish. WHAT is a happy fish? What you think is happy? Or do they actually have signs?
For instance all my bettas were vibrant unless they were stresses, upset or sick then they were dull. That is how I knew they were NOT unhappy or if they WERE.

Can A Mercury Thermometer Stop Working?

I took mine out of my tank to put it in my bucket with my sick fish.
I shook the thermometere, I ran it under cold water, rubbed ice around it and it still reads 83 degrees.

Should I Stop Being A Pescetarian?

I’ve been a pescetarian (essentially a vegetarian, except my diet includes fish and seafood) for a little over three years now. The only reason I’ve been eating fish is that that was my mother’s condition for allowing me to become a vegetarian. I eat a very healthy diet, and lots of protein. I eat lots of hummus, beans, and nuts, plus fish, and take Spirulina and multivitamins every day. However, I’ve still been having a lot of health problems recently that I didn’t have before I became a vegetarian. I’ve been getting sick a lot more often and lot more severely, and for the last couple months I’ve been very dizzy, weak, fatigued, and shaky. I went to my doctor recently and she found nothing wrong, so my diet is really the only plausible cause. My mom says that she experienced similar problems when she was a vegetarian. I’m considering stopping, but I’m unsure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Would I Be Killing My Yellow Lab?

My yellow lab that I bought 4 days ago is sick. Its skin has peeled off and it is stressed out. I don’t have a second tank to keep it only a bucket. I am worried that if I leave it in there it won’t have enough air after a while. I do have an air tube to put in the bucket.
I was thinking I would put in back in my tank and cover it with a terracotta pot that has small holes that no other fish can get swim through. Would that kill it?
EXTRA DETAILS:
Is stress coat what I need to help my fish?
I bought 2 yellow labs for my tank on Sunday. One of them is fine, swims, hides, and eats. The other one would always hide or hang out by the filter and I don’t think I have seen it eat. It looked stressed out but I ignored it thinking it needed time to adjust to the new tank. My yellow lab I had in the tank before adding the 2 new ones would chase them around, which is one of the reasons I thought it was stress. Today I saw the same yellow lab that would chase the new ones picking at its skin. Now my new yellow lab that was stressed out looks like its skin is peeling and I can see a little bit of red. I am assuming the red is the parts that its skins and fins have been eaten/peeled till its meat.
I moved things around a little and created new caves.Well they both are cichlids and the same species.
I have a 55 gallon tank with:
1 – yellow tail acei (3 inches)
1 – Kenyi Cichlid (1 inch)
4 – Electric Yellow Cichlid (2 inches)
1 – albino snow white cichlid (2 inches)
3 – serpae tetra (1 inch)
1 – rainbow shark (2 inches)

Do I Have A Phobia Of Fish?

Ok well its been like this my whole life…
I cannot eat fish or even look at dead fish. The smell makes me wretch and makes me feel like I am going to throw up. I can’t look at people eating fish or it gives me the same reaction. I have accidently eaten fish a couple of times… and the taste makes me gag horribly.
Somehow I don’t care much if they are alive…..though it’s not very pleasent even like that. If I see a dead fish though it gives me a really disgusting feel. If I see a dead gold fish in particular it makes me really sick!
I had a bad experience where I saw a bag on the floor with a dead fish head sticking out… and the smell… I was sick afterwards :(
Does this mean I have a phobia??

Help! Is Something Wrong With My Tank Water?

I notice today that something might be wrong with my tank water. When I put my finger in my tank and started to move it around the water kinda turned into a plastic looking thing. I really cant explain it but it looked like the water was being covered by a really thin plastic or a glue sheet. My fish don’t seem to be sick, they swim around fine, and eat fine too so I don’t think its doing any harm to them, but I really don’t know. I have a firemouth, Convict, and a Rainbow Shark in my 55 gallon tank, which will be a 120 gallon tank in a couple of months. In my tank I have white sand that I bought at petsmart, 2 fake plastic decorations also bought at petsmart, 3 real rocks that I bought at a fish store (dont remember the name), and my filter is a cascade 1000. If you guys need more info just ask and ill add it in the details. I just want to know if my fish are in danger

I Know Its Long But Really Need Some Help?

My husband has a drug problem and I told him if he messed up and left us broke again I was going to leave, but his daddy is in the hospital dying hooked up to a respirator and thats the only thing keeping him alive and my husband is messing up again. This time he gave me all of his money before i left so he wouldnt mess up but I know he is probably just selling his fishing poles and whatever tools he has. Would I be an awful person if I left him knowing he is suffering from his dad being so sick and may not live? What should I do? We have 2 kids also

My Guppy Looks Sick!?

recently one of my guppies died, at the start of the week she was kind of swimming odd like she was slightly leaning towards her side, then a few days later i put her in a seperate tank cause her tail was hanging down and she was breathing really heavily. she looked really tired and stayed in the same corner and refused to eat i have no idea what was wrong with her, but my other female has gone slightly red around the gills. other then that she is fine. shes in a 54L tank with 15 baby fish that i am getting rid of, a siamese fighter who doesn’t go for her or anything and a loach. she is a really peacful fish and keeps to herself. i really don’t want her to die , so it would really help if anyone has any sugestions whats wrong with her and how i can treat it?
