I have my 20 Gallon Fish tank with
- 2 Undergravel Filters
- 1 Power Filter (20)
- 1 Airpump
- Driftwood
- Sandy Rocks
- Colored Rocks
-Crayfish
- 4 Rosyred Minnows (feeders)
- 4 Comet Goldfish (Feeders)
Is it?
I want to add a mystery snail, cory catfish/algae eaters & shrimp to keep it clean. Is that a good janitor system?
What kind of fish can I add there? What kind of other food can I feed it? What do I need to know for a crayfish? Thanks!

I was wearing nail polish when I put my new female beta fish in her new tank. I put the water conditioner in it and everything. Do you think the nail polish will harm her in any way?
Also I know I should clean the tank every week but how should I clean the tank? It has tiny pebbles in it and I don’t want to loose them because I think if I kept having to replace the pebbles it would start to add up. Also I heard you shouldn’t clean out ALL the water because there is certain things the fish need from the old water. But I’m not sure if I should take this person’s advice.

I have a 10 gallon tank that I’d like to keep one or two bettas in. I would like to add some live plants rather than keep plastic ones or have plastic/ceramic decorations. Though, I just spent a bunch of money turning my 30 gallon tank into a planted tank…Complete with the expensive lighting.
The 10 gallon lighting consists of 2 regular incandescent bulbs. I guess it’s a stretch to ask if there are any plants (or mosses) that would grow…or at least stay alive in those conditions. But…are there?
I’m willing to change bulbs to something with more power, but I don’t want to have to buy a new hood…Also, is plant gravel required for all plants? Or would putting fertilizers in the water be alright? Excel for example…
Lights I have…http://www.arcatapet.com/fullsize/9406.j…
Also, tank dividers…I’ll probably end up getting just one betta, but in the future if I decide to get another…Do tank dividers actually work? I had one in when my guppies had babies, but it seemed as though one side of the tank looked much cleaner than the other. Are you supposed to use one filter for each side?
This is about what the divider looks like…http://www.radio-media.com/fish/5galNano…

I recently bought a green spotted puffer fish. He is a baby, being only 1 inch long. I have already converted him to 12 salinity over the course of 5 days. I will increase it to 15 in another month or so. Wanna given him a little more time to grow before he becomes full brackish as he is originally fresh water when born.
When he gets to be about 3-4 inches I hope to have the tank full marine. I am already in the process of getting a protein skimmer and water pump to create a current. I will be getting a UV sterilizer very soon and be ungraded the tank light.
The tank is a 20 gallon. I know some people say a GSP needs 30 gallons, but this is not true. These fish can happily live in a 20 gallon with modifications. Mainly, my filtration, airation, ect are all designed for 40+ tanks. I do have a 40 gallon tank I may convert to a salt water one, but that would not be till he was absolutely full grown.
My question here is what species of MARINE fish can I put with a GSP? I really like Triggers, Tangs, Clowns, Stingray and Cleaner Shrimp. Are any of these compatible at all with GSP? If I consider getting another fish or two to go with the puffer I will of course increase the size of the tank.
Please don’t answer unless you actually know. I don’t need answers from children or idiots who know nothing about fish.

I have 2, 1 inch green spotted puffer fish in my 20 gallon tank. Salinity is 10. I feed them a frozen cube of blood worms for breakfast, they have ghost shrimp all over to eat randomly, and in the afternoon I offer them a little bit of freeze-dried brine shrimp.
My fish are so small at the moment, they do not finish off all of 1 frozen blood worm cube. I end up needing to scoop the rest out with a net so the filter isn’t overloaded. My question, is what type of fish, or other animal can I put in the tank that will eat up the scraps at 10 salinity (which will be increased to 15 shortly)?
If the puffers will kill whatever I put in there, that is fine too. If a rosey would eat the scraps, but get killed, I don’t mind getting one each time the first is kill and replace it. They are so cheap it doesn’t matter.
Or is there some other type of fish or crustacean I could rely on? I have seen hermit crabs in full marine tanks. Ar they cleaners? If so can they live in a salinity of 15? I have no intention of converting the tank over to full marine till the fish are closer to 3 1/2 – 4 inches each.
Also, I have been keeping fish for 20+ years. I don’t need any lectures on water conditions, salt, blah blah blah. I’m asking what type of animals can clean up after my fish in a salinity of 10-15, that is all. And yes, 20 gallons is too small for 2 green spotted puffers if they were full grown. But as they are both only 1 inch each, this tank is far more than sufficient until they are each at least 4 inches, and I will be getting rid of one by the time they reach that length.

I’m a cat lover and never had interest in fish keeping. My cat brought home a live but injured goldfish just over two years ago. I rescued it, but it can’t go back to a pond because of its injuries. (It lost a lot of gut through a hole in its belly, and now it excretes through the hole and doesn’t get bigger because it’s underfed, but I hate to kill it because otherwise it seems quite happy.)
I bought a second fish to keep it company and a 20 litre tank, on the advice of the local aquarium shop. I have gravel, no plants, a pump filter containing charcoal, and I replace the charcoal every month, the filter when it starts to break up. I rinse the filter in pond water every week to keep it clean, and I replace about 5 litres of the water.
Last summer someone else’s cat caught a third gold fish and I was black mailed into taking it – threat of it being eaten by the finder’s Koi Carp otherwise. Now I read that my tank is criminally too small for the poor fishes, but no one will re-home them for fear of infections.
Not only is the water filthy and brown despite repeated treatment with something from the fish store, but the fish are now lethargic, not feeding and two out of the three have big sores on their rear flanks in the same place. The biggest of the three doesn’t have any sores……. I think he is attacking the two smaller fish. I put medication in the tank, but to use the water cleaner and the medication the charcoal has to come out.
Is it okay to do a daily 20% water change? I don’t mind doing that since the fish go lively again when there’s fresh water, even though it stays brown. I use a water conditioner from the fish store, and never put in untreated tap water. I let it stand overnight to be the same temperature too.
I would like to rehome the two larger fish and keep the disabled one, maybe with a companion of a species that won’t grow big. I can’t euthanise her after two years, just because she’s making extra work for me, but clearly three fish, two of which have doubled their size in a year, to over three inches long, is far too much for a 20 litre tank.

My filter’s adjustable – it can be really low or really high. Sadly really low means it’s basically not creating any water flow, there’s no current or anything; but really high means it’s swirling the water around too much for my fish. Midway is still too strong (I have a betta and corydoras. The neon tetras don’t mind it so much but it’s the others that I’m worried about).
Is it still cleaning the chemicals and stuff from the tank if it isn’t creating bubbles/current? Would I have to invest in an airstone if it is and I kept it on low?
