I have recently set up a 54l tropical tank, and it has been running for about 4 weeks. I added 6 rummy tetras after one week, but after testing high nitrite I did frequent water changes for 2 weeks. just today I got the all clear and thus added an ancistrus and 3 panda cories. I also have 5 live plants, of which I have taken cuttings. Just today I noticed 6 small and baby snails in my tank after adding the catfish, so this is obviously how they entered. What I need to know is whether they will be harmful or beneficial. Of the ones that have actually formed shells (some are still basically soft bodies) their shells are dark, quite rounded and spiral at the end. The biggest is about 3mm long. any ideas as to what to do?
also, I am thinking of adding some more fish next weekend. I’ve had a lot of advice from staff as I did work experience at the shop last summer, and they reckon I can introduce a ram and maybe a few cardinal tetras. I’m very fond of this idea to help bring in some bright colours, but will this be overstocking in my 54l tank? they’ve told me no but I want to be sure before I buy.
thanks for any advice!

So I have an new 10 gallon aquarium for something, Im really excited about getting a leopard gecko! I’ve been doing lots of research on them. There’s only one thing, I had collected some beach sand from my trip to Florida..ever since its been sitting in a bucket, and I was thinking of using that for his bedding. I’m not sure though if that’s a good idea, what with it being from a saltwater ocean and if it may be too rough for his belly n such.
I’d appreciate any help or suggestions

this is going to sound really stupid but i have a really, really bad phobia of fish. it started when i was very young because my father used to tell me stories about when his family used to fish in iran and they’d get a lot of huge fish that would come and make the boat rock sometimes. when my mother used to take me to the zoo shed leave my in the aquarium part for a long time and let me watch the fish because she has a phobia of water she thought it would help make she i didnt end up like her. the only problem is its had the opposite effect. it effects my everyday life quite a lot so if anyone has any ideas please say, thank you

So over the past few days I noticed that my 2 ID Sharks have developed Ich. I want to do the heat and salt treatment and need advice on how to do this properly cause I’ve looked around and everyone has a different method on doing this. Also, I don’t want to use any fish medication with all my baby fish in the tank. Here’s the basics: I have a 25 gallon tank currently with 2 ID Sharks, 1 Silver Molly, black molly babies, guppy babies, 5 neon tetras, 2 plecos and 1 golden dojo loach. My tank also had live plants in it.
I read that first you have to increase the temperature. My tank has always been at 80, and I am to increase it slowly to about 86. [Note: oxygen decreases, I have 3 air pumps in my tank so hopefully that will help?]
As for the salt, I have no idea. I have aquarium salt which I have never added to my tank before. Also, I’m not sure if adding salt will harm the types of fish I have or my plants.
Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Right now the store is selling mostly Bettas. We also sell feeder fish, crickets, etc. I’m looking for something to make us stand out from the crowd. As of right now, I think we are the only store in the world to sell Bettas out of their own aquarium instead of a cup. I’m looking for other unique ideas.

We live in Florida, and my children are into catching lizards outside. They put them in a 50 gallon aquarium (located outside), but I make them let the lizards go every couple of days because I know they are not feeding them enough bugs. Any ideas on how to easily catch live bugs to feed to the lizards?
