I’m just letting you know this is going to be really confusing because it’s just every question popping into my mind as i look in google images at planted tanks.
Thanks if you read and answer
I got a load of java fern and i’m just wondering how it is best used in aquascaping. The tank is 30 gallons (dimensions are 30″l x 14″w x 15″h) and i plan on eventually keeping apistogrammas (cockatoos or something similar). I also want to use anubias and i’m planning on this tank being pretty low light (or at least not strong lighting) and fertilising with leaf zone or something similar and flourish excel.
But back to the questions:
So at the moment the tank looks terrible (i’m really bad at aquascaping).
So first of all, you know when you seen pictures like this:

I don’t under stand how the build up that mound because surely it couldn’t be all plants and stuff?
Similar thing with this tank, how on earth did they get it looking amazing?

I don’t under stand where the plants are growing for. Obviously i don’t think it’s going to look like that.
This is a low light plant tank that i would love to have mine looking like (except i’m using brown gravel:

How do you think they attached java fern? And what’s the rock?
Also at the moment there is krib babies (pretty small) and bronze corydoras. I really want to start building up the back wall of the tank with looks of structure in the form of wood but i don’t know if this will drastically change the pH because it’s already very low. So what is something ideal to build up structure?
What are some other plants except for anubias and java fern that are good in lowlight or do you think i’d be able to make a good looking tank with just those 2 plants?
If there is anything else you can think of adding to your answer please do and thanks again.
