Carbon and Planted Aquarium………….and……….Polyester Filter Media?
I have two questions here…..,
First Question: I know that filters with carbon will take out some of the benificial things in aquatic fertilizer but will it also take out the benificial things from aquatic plant substrate? I am using Caribsea Eco-Complete Planted Aquarium Substrate. Here are some of the things that it will provide for my plants…Contains iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulfur plus over 25 other elements to nourish your aquatic plants.
I am guessing that the carbon will take out more than just one of those elements. So that leads me to my second question. Today I went to walmart to get some 100% polyester pillow stuffing to use in my Emperor 280 Bio-wheel. The problem is that i dont know how much to put in it. Could someone who has done this before tell me how much and how to put it in.
If you dont know this, the Emp 280 has the standard blue filter pad with the carbon and behind that is a decent sized container to put whatever media that you want in it. Tnx
