Can you put a Teddy Bear Hamster in a aquarium?

I am getting a Teddy Bear Hamster in the summer. I don’t want to get a plastic cage with tubes because it is hard to clean, especially the tubes. And I think the wire cages aren’t big enough. That is why I want to get a size 20 gallon aquarium. Is it ok if I place a hamster in a aquarium? I will also get a exercise ball and a crittertrail playpen.Oh, also please don’t say I should get another type of cage, I have decided to get a aquarium.
a 20 gallon aquarium is just fine! i use aquariums and find they are much safer than those wire ones. some hammies like to climb and risk getting their feet caught between the bars. just be sure to clean it once a week and place it in a cool spot and not in direct sunlight.

These are easy to clean cages, and aquariums have poor ventilation for hamsters. They will overheat and die.
Of course! Just make sure to keep it away from direct sunlight, and clean it out once or twice a week since there’s poor ventilation in an aquarium. Hamsters are usually very happy in an aquarium, especially a nice large one. I do suggest you get a wheel for inside the aquarium as well as use newspaper begging. Wood shavings cause dust and that can cause respiratory problems. That and newspaper tends the be cheaper and softer.
I have my 3 mice in a 40 gallon aquriam. Keeping a hamster in a aquriam is pretty bad for their respiroty system, but on the up side, you hamster won’t spill the bedding from the tank!
As long as you have a wire thing that goes over the tank, so air can get in and make sure you open the window often in the room you hamster is in. If I were you I’d get another sam sex hamster. Hamsters are very social and will be more happy if thei live with more than one.

that is just fine your hamster will be very spoiled just give it a wheel and toilet paper rolls to chew on and tissues to make a nest and it will be perfectly fine

really i breed Syrian hamsters and im sorry but the wire cages are just ridiculously over priced i keep all my hamster by family in 10 20 40 gallon tanks and i havent had any problems with it i clean them weekly and they all have wheels and houses i try to keep them handled alot because yes the one down factor ive found about them is they get bored but these hamsters are just naturally social
