They don’t swim very well. I’d rethink that idea.

    yea uhhh no water though

  7. suedetteuk says:

I dont think you can. Chinchilla’s need a lot of room and they climb so you need the room to be above the chinchilla.

  8. Still Tippin says:

    NOOOO.

    Nowhere to climb,
    Not tall enough,
    Not well ventilated
    No, No, No.

Get a chinchilla cage, a rabbit cage, or even a 3 story ferret cage.

..yes but i wounldnt suggest it
its will get so stinky; difficult to clean
and may also not be enough room

    o.o
Aren’t they usually kept in cages instead?
And I think chinchillas can jump… so you might want something with a top.

… a pretty big one, you need wood chip stuff (non cedar). and im pretty sure a chinchilla is too big for a fish tank. you could keep other animals like mice or hampsters in one though.

of course you can, make sure it has a Baboon pal though, they really need there red bottomed friends… . oh and an Alligator… . yeah and a Koala Bear… . they`ll all be fine… . indeed they will be best buddies in there little glass world… . looking at you thinking that smug b*st*rd thinks we`re pals, next chance lets eat the feckers hand… .

No, it is not a proper cage for a chin. Beside not being enough floor space or hear space, there is not enough air flow and a tank will also allow build up of humidity, which is very bad for a chinchilla.
IF it is an emergency, and that is the only place you have to keep a chin over night, it is better then letting them run loose, but the lid has to fit tight, and the next day you MUST get a proper cage!
If you are thinking about getting a chin as a pet, please do all the research you can before bringing your pet home. I studied the species for almost 2 years before I bought my first….. ALSO, chins live a looooooooooooong time (I have one that will soon be 15 years and another that is almost 14 years), so if you think you want one, think about where you will be in 15-20 years. The chin may very well still be alive, and should be in a proper and good home for life!

  17. wonder girl says:

    no water.

or, if you roll that way-fill it up!

seriously, i dont think the glass provides enough ventillation.

  18. pillowpoof says:

yes.first you put bedding in the tank, you can get it at a pet store.then get a water bowl.then a running wheel.then some cottonballs so the chinchilla can make his own home inside the tank!or you can buy him a wooden box for th chinchilla which they also sell at a pet store.

  19. ஐ~sκγε~ஐ says:

No, fish tanks are not good for a chin – not enough ventilation, they’re too small, and you can’t attach any ledges or climbing branches.

These things should go in the cage – lots of ledges/platforms for the chinchilla to climb and jump on; climbing branches; a sleep house (made from wood, not plastic); a chin-safe exercise wheel; lots of things for it to chew on; and then the obvious food, water, and hay and dishes to put them all in. Also, about 2 inches of bedding on the cage floor.
