No fish can live well in such a small tank. I work for Petsmart actually, and most of the labels are just plain incorrect. It is actually silly to list any fish as requiring only a single gallon because those fish are tropical and require an aquarium heater- one gallon is not safe to heat. That is just one of many reasons. I’m sorry, but it would have been a good idea to return the tank as well. No fish can live well in such a small tank.

They will survive in one for quite a while, but they won't thrive. I recommend you get some small shrimp, such as cherry shrimp or Amano shrimp.
