can bamboo be submerged completely?

I have four curly bamboo plants that were dying and were given to me so I thought that I would try to make them better. I have no idea what to put them in or where. My apartment is kept at a very cold temperature I have been placing them in warmer water with plant food to see if it would help it seems to have helped a little and the yellowish color is fading to a light green but it is a pain to change its water every five hours or so. Would the bamboo plants do ok with my live plants in my freshwater aquarium that has plant food in it already? Can the bamboo be completely submerged?
