Can a Saltwater Hermit crab live in a freshwater aquarium?

I caught 2 hermit crabs while fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and decided to keep them.
I’m also thinking about getting an aquarium, but I just want a freshwater one. If I put the crabs in the freshwater, will they live?

No, they are not the land hermit crabs that you see at the store. They live in the ocean because they are a marine invertibrate. They will quickly die in freshwater.
They are called saltwtaer hermit crabs. You caught them in saltwater. They live in saltwater. What do you think the answer is? If you cant find them in freshwater, they can’t live in saltwater.
Sorry, but the answer just seems so damn obvious.
Your question just answered your question:) Saltwater crabs can’t live in freshwater.

I would also like to add that harvesting crabs for pets is not legal. The crabs you brought home are in danger of dying the longer you do not provide them with the habitat that they need which includes a complete salt water set up and preferably live rock.
