can a pleco, betta and catfish live in brackish water? what temperature?

my dad’s friend gave him a pleco (janitor fish), a catfish and a betta.
right now, the betta is in a small betta tank, while the pleco and catfish are in a 10 gallon tank. my dad says that his friend let them all live in 1 tank and got along pretty well. so i’m planning to combine them.
but today, i just set up the 10 gallon tank for them and i added some “aquarium salt for all freshwater fish” and without a heater. the pleco and catfish are okay with it.

would adding the betta mean i have to add a heater?
if so, can it survive in brackish water and can the heater affect catfish and pleco be able?

i’m not sure what kind my catfish is.
here are pictures:

sorry, they are pretty bad quality.
but basically he’s small, black with white vertical stripes and a light belly.
can anyone tell me what kind he is?

thanks in advance. :)

Those pictures are basically impossible to distinguish the catfish with any real certainty. Though my guess would be a bumblebee catfish. If that’s what it is, it needs a minimum of 45-55 gallons. Plecostomus can get very large, and most types require a minimum of 125 gallons. You need a heater with or without the betta, at the very least in the winter months unless you are in a tropical area. “Aquarium salt” does not make a tank brackish, only marine salt does that. Most catfish can handle low-end brackish tanks(specific gravity less than 1.005) as long as the salt is added in a separate container, and slowly added to the tank.

It could be a Bumblebee catfish, there are two types and I cant tell which from your photos.

Either way, you are going to need a bigger tank. The Pleco could grow to more than a foot long, but they are generally peacefull toward anything except sometimes other plecos.

You will need a heater unless your room is constantly warm. Around 25C (77F) will be OK for all those fish.

Go easy on the aquarium salt, plecos do NOT tolerate it well. A small amount shouldn’t harm them, but use less than the recommended amount (50%?)

But apart from those things, the fish should be OK living together.
