Betta fish in little plastic bag vs plastic container?

I went looking for betta fish today. First I stopped at Petco. If youve been there you know they store their betta in little plastic containers w/a hole on top. Not seeing any that looked “lively”, I went to a the nearest fish shop/aquarium. Youll think theyll take better care but , I saw them store in little sealed or rubber banded plastic bags. Now call me a newbie but is this an ok way to store them? or temporary store them? I asked the store owner but he said ” theyre alive arent they?” …….yeah for how long..hummmm

They’d be a lot better in the plastic containers than the bags, the bags only carry a small amount of oxygen, at least the containers have a hole for air supply.

Both are horrible ways to keep them though.

I’ve had several Betas–love them! But I did treat mine to an actual fish tank. Smaller container means you have to change the water more. In the tank, mine lasted almost 2 years.

I bought beta from petco in the plastic container 1yr6mo ago and still doing well. I’ve purchased about 3 times in past 10 years they’re ok. I’ve never purchased ones in plastic bags. Never seen them.
